Giants Make Historic Comeback Win in Arizona, Yet Suffer a Tremendous Loss

Sunday’s afternoon game in Arizona was one for the ages for Giants fans. A roller coaster ride of emotions came to a dramatic last-minute finish, as the Giants completed a 20-0 halftime comeback to win  31-28 on a Graham Gano field goal, which tied the Giant's all-time record for the biggest comeback in team history. After suffering an embarrassing loss to Dallas in week one, many would view this as a much-needed rally, as it is.

In the famous words of Haruki Murakami, however, “When there is light, there must be a shadow.” That shadow came from the Giant's best player, Saquon Barkley, going down with an ankle sprain. Barkley had X-rays taken after the game, which came back negative, meaning no fractures. As reported by Adam Schefter earlier today, Saquon went in for an MRI, which revealed the injury to be a “normal sprain.” As things stand, Barkley will be out for the next three weeks. The Giants will get a run for their money in that stretch as they play San Francisco on Thursday night, followed by the Seahawks and Dolphins.

It goes without saying how much of an impact Barkley makes on this New York team. When he does not play, the Giants average 17 points a game and average just shy of two touchdowns scored. As opposed to when he does play, and average just over 20 points and 2.2 touchdowns. Facing some of the best the NFL has to offer in the Dolphins and 49ers, New York will struggle to get going on offense without him. Hopefully, Barkley will quickly and seamlessly return to action for the Giants and their fans.
