Evans Returns to Buccaneers on Two Year Deal

One of the biggest names coming into this year’s offseason was future Hall of Famer Mike Evans. Evans has been with the Buccaneers since he was drafted back in 2014, and it appears this could be his forever home. Evans signed a two year 52 million dollar deal to return to Tampa, with 35 million of that guaranteed. A great deal for both sides as Evans gets financially compensated, and the Bucs get to keep one of their best players in franchise history.

Evans, while getting older in age (30) is still a lethal threat on the outside for any offense. Last season, Evans had one of the best years of his career with QB Baker Mayfield. Evans hauled in 79 catches for 1255 receiving yards and a league-leading 13 touchdowns. Clearly, he still has a lot in the tank, despite his age.

With Baker Mayfield reportedly not interested in staying in Tampa for a discount, it is currently unclear what Tampa's QB position looks like. However, subpar QB play has never sunk Evans’ production in the past and I can’t see it stopping him now. Including Mayfield, Evans has caught passes from seven different QBs in his career and has gone for one thousand yards with all of them. If Baker does not return, the next man up will mark the eighth QB to throw to Evans in his career. If that is the case, I see no reason for anyone to question if Big Mike can keep it together like he has in the past.
