Future Hall of Fame Center Jason Kelce Officially Retires

Bitter sweet news came out of Philadelphia this past few days, as future Hall of Fame Center Jason Kelce has called it a career. Kelce came into the league as a 6th round draft pick by the Eagles in 2011. He gained the starting job as a rookie and started all 16 games, and he’s never turned back. In 2014 he got his first of seven career Pro Bowl nominations. Three years later, in 2017, he would receive his first of six First Team All Pro nods. Those wouldn’t be the only pieces of hardware Kelce would take home in his career either. He also has a Super Bowl ring from 2017 which he has attributed to former teammate QB Nick Foles' impeccable play in that game.

Humility is a quality trait of Jason’s and he’s made countless impacts not only on the field but off it as well. Kelce is a multiple time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, with this past year being his most recent nomination. His foundation (Be)Philly, is dedicated to creating a better world for the next generation of children growing up in Philadelphia. This is just one of the ways that Kelce gives back to the community, as he constantly donates to different organizations.

As the curtain closes on one of the NFL’s great careers we must appreciate how great Jason Kelce was. A man amongst boys on the line with the heart of a gentle giant. I wish all the best to Jason as he embarks on his next journey, and thank him for his continuing contributions to the game and to society.
