Bateman Secures Another Pay Day from Ravens
Rashod Bateman has secured a contract extension for the second consecutive offseason with the Baltimore Ravens. The team officially announced on Thursday that they had signed Bateman to a new deal, providing both stability for the player and future flexibility for the franchise.
According to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo, the extension spans three years and is valued at $36.75 million, with $20 million guaranteed. This new deal keeps Bateman under contract with the Ravens through the 2029 season. Notably, just a few months earlier in April 2024, Bateman had agreed to a two-year, $12.87 million extension. The timing and terms of this subsequent agreement reinforce the Ravens’ increasing confidence in Bateman’s abilities and his importance to their offense.
Drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Bateman has steadily developed into a reliable target. He responded to his fresh contract by delivering his most productive season yet, amassing 756 receiving yards on 45 receptions, along with nine touchdowns. This marked a significant improvement over his first three seasons combined, during which he totaled only four touchdowns. Bateman’s progression highlights his growing role as a consistent playmaker and a critical component of Baltimore’s passing game.
With two years still remaining on his previous deal, the Ravens not only extended Bateman’s contract but also significantly increased his guaranteed money. While Bateman has yet to put together a blockbuster season, his contributions are vital within the Ravens’ offensive scheme. Interestingly, this offseason Baltimore also acquired veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, adding another dynamic weapon to their receiving corps. Alongside WR1 Zay Flowers and Bateman, Hopkins forms a formidable trio that represents the strongest group of wide receivers Baltimore has fielded in years. This talented trio gives the Ravens a diverse and potent aerial attack, which should significantly enhance their offensive versatility for the upcoming season.
