49ers Land Huff From Eagles

The San Francisco 49ers have placed a clear emphasis on building their front seven into a dominant strength over the past few years—and it’s largely paid off, as the team has enjoyed consistent success over the past decade. Now, the franchise has doubled down on that approach by officially announcing the acquisition of defensive lineman Bryce Huff from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a mid-round draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 255 pounds, Huff entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the New York Jets on May 6, 2020. Over the course of his five-year professional career—which includes stints with both the Jets (2020–23) and the Eagles (2024)—Huff has demonstrated consistent production and versatility along the defensive front. He has appeared in 66 games, starting 13 of them, and has compiled a solid stat line: 77 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 20.0 sacks, three passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. He also has postseason experience, having played in two playoff games, where he showcased his ability to perform under pressure.

In the 2024 season with Philadelphia, Huff took on a more prominent role, appearing in 12 games and starting six. During that stretch, he contributed 13 tackles—including three for loss—2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble, further establishing himself as a disruptive force on the defensive line.

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, the 27-year-old Huff played college football at the University of Memphis from 2016 to 2019. Over four seasons with the Tigers, he appeared in 52 games and started 25, producing a standout collegiate career that included 136 tackles, 39.5 tackles for loss, 18.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, three passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries. His college production laid a strong foundation for his professional journey, showcasing his ability to impact games with both power and agility.

The 49ers’ acquisition of Huff adds valuable depth and proven pass-rushing ability to their defensive line rotation.
