Raiders and LT Kolton Miller Agree to Terms on New Extension
After entering the league and almost immediately having doubts cast his way, yet another Raiders regime has demonstrated its confidence in Kolton Miller by making him a long-term cornerstone of the team’s future. On Wednesday evening, the Las Vegas Raiders officially announced that they had signed their left tackle to a significant contract extension. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Miller’s new deal spans three years and includes $66 million in new money, with $42.5 million guaranteed. Notably, nearly $43 million of that amount is set to be paid out during the first two seasons, reflecting the team’s strong commitment to securing his services.
Miller’s average annual salary of $22 million positions him among the elite, placing him in the top ten highest-paid left tackles in the entire league. The timing of the deal is particularly noteworthy, as Miller was entering the final year of his previous contract and had initially chosen to skip the voluntary portion of the team’s offseason program. However, he participated fully in all mandatory training activities and reported promptly to training camp despite the looming contract talks.
Standing an imposing 6-foot-8 and weighing 325 pounds, Miller was the Raiders’ first-ever pick following their move to Las Vegas, selected 15th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Since joining the Silver and Black, he has proven remarkably durable and consistent, having played in 109 games and started 107 of them. His 107 starts since 2018 rank as the 10th-highest total among all NFL offensive linemen during that period, and he is the fifth-most tenured left tackle in that elite group.
Beyond his durability and experience, Miller has earned a reputation as one of the most disciplined offensive linemen in the league. Since his rookie season, he has averaged just 0.28 penalties per game, marking the second-lowest rate among left tackles who have played at least 100 games. This combination of reliability, discipline, and talent makes Miller an indispensable asset as the Raiders seek to build a stronger, more competitive team moving forward.
