Steelers Award Running Back Jaylen Warren With New Extension
Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has firmly secured his future in Pittsburgh with a significant two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2027 season. According to sources speaking with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal guarantees Warren $12 million, underscoring the Steelers’ commitment to their burgeoning star.
In addition to the guaranteed money, the contract features a $5.95 million signing bonus, boosting Warren’s salary to over $7 million in 2025—a notable increase from the $5.346 million he was set to earn on his restricted tender. Warren is slated to earn $5.05 million in 2026 and $5.15 million in 2027, bringing his total earnings over the three-year span to $17.25 million.
Warren’s journey to this point has been remarkable. Initially making the Steelers’ roster as a rookie undrafted free agent in 2022, he quickly turned heads during his first training camp with his agility, vision, and work ethic. After spending three seasons serving as the complementary back to former first-round pick Najee Harris, Warren steps into the 2025 season as the team’s starting running back—a testament to his growth and persistence.
Statistically, Warren has proven to be an efficient and dynamic player. He boasts a career average of 4.8 yards per carry and an impressive 7 yards per reception, showcasing his dual-threat capability both on the ground and as a receiver out of the backfield. Despite dealing with injuries last season, he still managed to rack up 511 rushing yards on 120 attempts, scoring one touchdown. Additionally, he contributed 310 receiving yards on 38 catches across 15 regular-season games, solidifying his role as a valuable offensive asset. With this new contract, Warren is poised to continue making significant strides and play a central role in the Steelers’ offense for years to come.
