Christian Watson Secures Extension with Packers

The Green Bay Packers are securing wide receiver Christian Watson with a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The deal includes an $11 million base salary for the upcoming year, accompanied by $6 million guaranteed. This guaranteed money is structured as a signing bonus, while the $11 million base also incorporates $1.85 million in 46-man roster bonuses for the 2025 season.

Watson is currently listed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he works his way back from a torn ACL sustained during Week 18 of the 2023 season against the Chicago Bears. Selected as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Watson made significant strides last season by catching 29 passes for a career-high 620 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Over his first three professional seasons, the young wideout has amassed a total of 14 touchdowns, showcasing his potential as a key offensive contributor.

This contract extension provides him with much-needed security, allowing him to prioritize his rehabilitation without the pressure of proving himself for a new deal this season. By granting Watson an additional year on his contract, the Packers are showing confidence in his ability to develop into a long-term asset for their offense once he returns to full health.
